Back in 1990 I purchased a 300-litre barrel of Seppelts Para Port (average 20 years) which from time to time was topped up with high quality samples. When the Farmer Bros business dissolved, the barrel was shipped to Veritas-Rolf Binder Wines in the Barossa Valley. This port now well over 50 years in age, a jelly like elixir, became the base of the Farmers Museum Selection Fine Old Barossa Tawny Port. With suitable additions, in particular 500 litres of Shiraz port from 2004 this barrel was bottled in 2012. This wine is the highlight of the Traditional Xmas mix.
Traditional means selections from the premium warm regions of the Adelaidean Mount Lofty Range. This means the districts of the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and Clare Valley, with varietal strength in Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Further interest comes from Grenache and a Rose from Grenache and Mataro, included because it is best of class.
This our 21st consecutive selection sells individually for $267.00. Since we always offer a bonus price with mixed dozens this reduces to $199.00 a saving of $68. For our final Xmas the Traditional 2025 is offered at $135.00.
