All wines released by all companies begin with trial blends and bench tastings. They do this to get things right. Some evolve into new products like Jacobs Creek and Koonunga Hill. Glug blends new wines every working day and some of these are released as Trial Blends. The first were in 2016.
These Red Trials are mostly from premium regions along the lengthy, rocky arc which joins the Clare Valley to Kangaroo Island and includes the Barossa-Eden Valleys, McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek. This great sweep of vineyard country is as exciting as any large region on the Globe and may well be the best of them all. We refer to this wine country as the Mount-Lofty-Adelaidean range.
Great wines have been produced since the red wine trials of the 1950s by Max Schubert showed us the way. These evolved into Penfolds Range and the sweeping range of Bin numbers of today. This Trial Bin 093 helps us understand the blending of Barossa Valley with Eden Valley wines.
