• Trial Bin 093 Barossa Cabernet Merlot Cabernet Franc M.V.

    $10.40

Great wines have been produced since the red wine trials of the 1950s by Max Schubert showed us the way. These evolved into Penfolds Range and the sweeping range of Bin numbers of today. This Trial Bin 093 helps us understand the blending of Barossa Valley with Eden Valley wines.

  • Glug Barossa Valley Shiraz Cabernet Mataro N.V.

    $12.80

I preach younger is better and in this case this is balanced by the wine being recently bottled and freshened with 2022 just before bottling. I see the role of this wine as being for the many occasions where a drink is required but not worthy of opening one of the best bottles.

  • Light & Finniss South Australia Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

    $10.90

This is the way our winemaker likes his wines which is to let the mystery unfold as you taste.

  • Harem ‘Rosita’ Barossa Valley Rosé (Grenache Mataro) 2022

    $21.00

About this Rosé I said, ‘Forget the insinuation of the pale delicate rusty pink colour, as this is simply very great wine which is fruity, bone dry, bitter-sweet and offers challenges’. Insinuation meaning – because it’s a rosé do not expect a simple, quaffing, sweet style. This comment applies to the remarkable Rosita 2022 which will develop for many years.

  • Dark Matter Exploration No.2

    $14.50

Imagine a wine which is a black glass, passed via a hatch into a darkened room, where you sit on your own, to make of the wine what you will.

  • Knotts Eden Valley Nero D’Avola 2021

    $12.80

Glug likes varieties which offer our customers a slight shift in taste. Even better is when a small winery has made more than can be sold allowing us to purchase at keen prices. Hence, after a taste we had no hesitation purchasing the few barrels of this delicious Nero D’Avola, surplus to this tiny winery

  • P. B. Burgoyne Riverland Shiraz 2022

    $9.50

Great wines can be made from our inland regions, and they have been. Both Mildara and the Berri-Renmano Coop in the 1970s released many superlative wines. Some of the greatest bargains today are made in the Griffith area.  Yet you will never know about them due to the prejudice now built into the reporting and judging of wines. Yes, you have been brainwashed. This Burgoyne is another in our program to make tasty QDR’s short for quaffing dry reds.

  • P.B. Burgoyne Eden Valley Riesling 2023

    $11.60

Eden Valley is considered a cool climate district.  Cool climate districts though are not all the same since coolness can come from elevation or latitude or a combination.

Further variations are created by the closeness to the ocean, being a source of cool air, and rainfall as humidity seems to play a role in creating the taste.

  • Bagot Station Barossa Valley Shiraz 2023

    $13.40

Young reds from the right vintages without hard extract are magnificent. This Bagot reminds me of those deeply coloured and powerful Moulin a Vent-Beaujolais, I imported in the 1970s. Deep in colour, one glass led to another, as did the bottles. How can wine be so pleasant. This vintage produced wines with a pronounced aroma and the winemaker has highlighted this with a light touch in the winery-such as no pressings added back. A must buy though will not evolve into a Karrawirra.

  • Mount Eagle Eden Valley Montepulciano 2021

    $14.10

Montepulciano is a southern Italian variety and the Eden Valley with a more Mediterranean climate than the Barossa is the best place to see how this variety performs in our southern climates.

  • Karrawirra Single Vineyard ‘Fan Block’ Barossa Valley Shiraz 2018

    $26.00

The pick of the best Barossa end up as Karrawirra Single Vineyard bottlings.

  • Stockwell Creek Basket Pressed Barossa Valley Shiraz 2021

    $22.50

Irrespective of vintage the Barossa Valley has a reputation for full flavoured wines the result of the latitude, elevation and the way warmth is trapped. With Shiraz the results are often astonishing, and a richness with mid-palate weight is achieved that exceeds all other comparable regions. Vintage 2021 is close to 10/10.

  • Terrene Estates South Australia Shiraz 2022

    $11.30

This Terrene Estates is a blend of Shiraz from warmer South Australian districts.

  • Borderland Estates ‘Flocking Galloots’ South Australia Sauvignon Blanc 2024

    $9.60

Glug simply loves Sauvignon Blanc. We were there in the mid late 1970s promoting the variety when the elite shunned it – indeed they were scathing of its potential.

  • Glug ‘Nouveau Rouge’ McLaren Vale Gamay 2022

    $14.90

This Gamay is a first for Glug and if your mind wanders to far off travels then this is ideal.

  • Terrene Estates South Australia Chardonnay 2024

    $9.60

Vines arrived with the First Fleet, collected from European vineyards, while cuttings also came from Madeira and Cape Town, both with a long wine making history. More varieties arrived with the Busby collection of the 1830s. We know Chardonnay existed for a long time in Mudgee yet what was the origin? New clonal selections arrived though it was not till the mid to late 1980s that sufficient Chardonnay was being made to meet demand. Now all vineyard districts grown Chardonnay though it is no longer favoured in warm regions like the Barossa Valley. This Terrene Estates is a Glug blend from several sources.

  • Langdorf Kaldukee Barossa Valley Mataro 2020

Original price was: $12.40.Current price is: $9.40.

Bit by bit the status of Mataro is growing with Glug seeing Mataro as a variety of great significance from warm climate regions.

  • Village Belle Barossa Valley Grenache 2022

Original price was: $14.50.Current price is: $10.50.

We are interested in taste variations to Barossa and Eden Valley varieties beyond our core range of Shiraz and Cabernet.
