In any large vineyard district like the Barossa there are vineyards that deliver a better quality of fruit to the winery. There are multiple reasons why this is so though cropping levels and picking time are two that are important. As well any large vineyard will have known highpoints for better quality, mostly due to availability of water, though these grapes are harvested with the rest.
Large to medium sized wineries supply their many customers with a limited range of brands which means the final blends are large. To make sufficient wine the quality high points are blended with the average to make a uniform style.
Because we sell direct, plus offer wines under dozens of brands we do not have the constraints of larger companies. And importantly our ethos is different to a tiny winery offering a few reds and whites.
From this thinking Glug began bottling the best wines as Karrawirra Single Vineyards and others like Goat Square Ziegnmarkt, Brutus and Harem Sultan. Quantities bottled are under 40 cases of each. This Karrawirra She Oak is our best Cabernet from 2019.
