Ten good tasters looking at ten good wines will lead to at least eight being nominated as the best. And so it will be with our Individual Barrel Series. 2022 was a good vintage and it is appropriate to release the last stocks of the best barrels as the Individual Barrel series. They preserve a difference so simply enjoy them for this aspect. The first individual barrels were bottled in 2015 and followed on from a decade of discussion-how do you do it. They are worth producing as they represent our desire to display wines in a new way.
With a group of friends opening a range for comparison will make a great tasting. Do not expect huge differences between individual barrels are they are variations on a theme being from the same parcel of grapes off the same vineyard blocks. In future years it should be possible to select parts of a few rows of grapes for individual treatment which is the direction I am sure we will go.
