At Glug we like our wines rich and full bodied. The first BVWS was a 2006 though my all-time favourite was the 2019 which was 15.4% ABV though the following vintage 2020 we bottled a Durif at 15.8% ABV.
Vintage 2021 was a remarkable vintage and extra taste shows up as you hold the wine on your palate. The wines are in balance because of this perfect even vintage and is the best vintage for Barossa Cabernet we can recall. We had to settle for just over 15.0% ABV.
To understand this Barossa Valley Cabernet, you need to know Glug both makes Barossa Valley wines plus we buy wines from other makers. From 2009 we began to find outside supply was limited as many new boutiques kept all stock for their customers. Only in the last three years has the production of small wineries exceeded their own requirements so we are again being offered wonderful wines though tiny amounts.
