The Bengalee left Hamburg with German settlers on 10th July 1838 and arrived in Adelaide on the 19th November, 1838. It is likely a few of these arrivals later found their way to the Barossa Valley becoming part of the fabulous Barossa wine story.
We picked up that story in 2008 when we released our first Bengalee which was Shiraz. The Barossa weather controls what we do as being a warm growing region the wines of the style we wish to make are full bodied and ripe. Each vintage is different though cool vintages which profoundly alter what you can expect are not common.
The 2021 was a classical vintage which means the ripening process was even without extremes which distort flavours. For the Barossa Valley we rank it as 10/10. If you are not familiar with Barossa Cabernet start with this Bengalee.
