• Goat Square ‘Ziegenmarkt’ Reserve Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

    $18.50

As the Australian palate has matured so the interest has grown for the warmer, fuller richer styles of Cabernet.

  • Glug ‘Sunday Drive’ Adelaide Hills Shiraz 2023

    $14.60

Adelaide Hills vineyards are small and variable. A bit of good ground here and a further tiny parcel over the hill crest. Pocket handkerchief vineyards. Less common is exposure to the summer heat which ripens Shiraz and this ‘Sunday Drive’ we found irresistible and so purchased from a small garagiste maker. Cool climate though in the style of Eden Valley.

  • Glug ‘Broken Slate’ Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

    $14.70

Combine this with the elevation of the Clare wine district and add in weather that brings the heat of the inland south, and you have a mix of elements ripening the grapes that creates unusual and magnificent flavours. In this way the Cabernet has a minty Clare twist to the flavour and a depth of colour like no other Cabernet region.

  • Crayford Barossa Valley Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2023

Original price was: $14.80.Current price is: $10.00.

Shiraz forms the stable known base. Grenache has alcoholic strength but less palate taste and brings to the blend beguiling aromas and a different palate impression to Shiraz. Yet what are these two without Mataro which maintains order by rearranging both and providing a strength of character particularly on the back palate. Still the genius of this wine remains the Grenache.

  • Glug ‘The Long Shot’ Barossa Valley Primitivo Shiraz 2023

    $13.70

This is a red you will enjoy being a blend of the Italian variety Primitivo with our local favourite Shiraz. Shiraz is the outstanding variety for Australia and rises to heights that eclipse any other Global region. The blend with Primitive works as this variety also responds to our local summer heat. A pleasing addition to the Glug portfolio.

  • Glug ‘Welcome to Glug’ South Australia Full Flavoured Red Mixed Dozen

    $125.00

The perfect mixed dozen of reds to give you a taste of what we do – Great Quality Wines at Affordable Prices.

  • Bagot Station Barossa Valley Shiraz Cabernet 2023

    $13.40

Drink this vintage sooner not later as the extraordinary aroma is its great joy.

  • P. B. Burgoyne Eden Valley Shiraz 2022

    $13.60

There are some fabulous vineyard clusters and those developed by the Henschke family at Keyneton illustrate the wine quality that can be achieved. The origin of the Burgoyne Shiraz is from the low Eden Valley where the reds are plumper than the far cooler high Eden. Still the low parts of the Eden Valley are one hundred or more metres higher than the Barossa Valley so expect a Shiraz that highlights different flavour aspects.

  • Old Moppa Road Barossa Valley Shiraz 2022

    $14.50

The Barossa Valley is a remarkable wine region to visit. To move from admiring the landscape in the manner of the occasional visitor to having a profound knowledge of the how the landscape evolved (geomorphology) has given me much satisfaction.

I know Old Moppa Road very well. It runs along the western edge of the northern Barossa Valley a location with many old vine vineyards. Alas for this vintage we could not buy grapes from the location we wanted along Old Moppa so moved further north to secure supply.

This vintage was a true Barossa vintage without prolonged hot spells nor unsettling cooler periods. So out of 50 vintages the 2022 would be like about 25 of them. You want to sit with the average not the extremes. Looks good in the glass as I write this note but am wary about long term cellaring.

The wine is rich and deep but all vintages make me cautious as the unexpected can appear as they age, so 10 plus years is not recommended – unless you are happy.

  • Barbarossa Barossa Valley Shiraz Cabernet Durif Mataro 2022

    $15.80

NMD is short for ‘no more details’ and is the game we played with the early releases of the Barbarossa. The name Barbarossa and knowledge that it was 100% Barossa Valley was all customers were told. A real guessing game.

  • The Regions Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

    $13.80

The reason there are so many Glug brands is because we prefer to bottle each wine to preserve the difference, however tiny. Overriding all of the small differences is the flavour of the Barossa Valley and the Glug style which favours full flavours. Expect from us a red over 14% alcohol as we are not excited by the flavours of low alcohol reds.

  • Langdorf Barossa Valley Shiraz 2019

    $16.50

This is what the Langdorf tastes like – true Barossa.

  • Trial Bin 093 Barossa Cabernet Merlot Cabernet Franc M.V.

    $10.40

Great wines have been produced since the red wine trials of the 1950s by Max Schubert showed us the way. These evolved into Penfolds Range and the sweeping range of Bin numbers of today. This Trial Bin 093 helps us understand the blending of Barossa Valley with Eden Valley wines.

  • Langdorf Kaldukee Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

    $11.40

Expect a fuller riper taste as what Barossa Cabernet demonstrates is that each variety can be grown across a wide ripening spectrum.

  • Mount Eagle Eden Valley Cabernet Syrah 2022

Original price was: $14.10.Current price is: $7.05.

The best way I can describe this Mount Eagle is to appreciate that the medium density, the result of the location, displays a range of flavours, perhaps fragrant, which tend to be masked in wines from the adjoining Barossa Valley.

  • Hopcroft & Cornock McLaren Vale Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2022

Original price was: $13.80.Current price is: $9.00.

Sourced from surplus barrels of a post-1990s McLaren Vale winemaker, this Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2022 has been matured in large, seasoned oak and bottled when at its finest, offering a rich, balanced expression of the original wine.

  • Glug ‘Bethany Road’ Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

    $14.20

Barossa Cabernet is different to those from cooler districts being warmer and riper on the palate and this ‘one off’ is very much in the Glug style.

  • Mount Eagle Eden Valley Tempranillo 2021

    $14.10

Tempranillo is one of the noble varieties of Spain and climatically is a useful addition to the palates of consumers.

  • Glug ‘GH02’ Winemaker’s Individual Barrel Selection Barossa Valley Shiraz 2022

    $14.50

From a standout 2022 vintage, this Single Barrel, hand-bottled Shiraz reveals subtle variations from one exceptional barrel. Crafted to showcase the vineyard’s finest nuances, it’s perfect for shared tastings and discovery.

  • Auld & Burton Barossa Valley Shiraz Mataro 2014

    $12.80

The oldest Mataro vines date back to around 1892 though it was a popular variety in previous eras as a productive, non-irrigated bush vine this before the arrival of trellised vine rows and drip irrigation. We do know that the early makers of Barossa Valley Shiraz added 10-15% of Mataro to many blends as they found this added strength and character to the wine. So Mataro was the variety which was never on the label yet was always in red wine.
