The Barossa Valley is a remarkable gift to all wine consumers. The 10,000 hectares of vines deliver each vintage flavours and tastes which are easy to comprehend yet have a complexity that makes each bottle as interesting as the last. The valley, actually a flat plain bounded to the east by an uplifted block is simply the right place within the Australian continent to generate flavours which are not duplicated elsewhere on the Globe.
The scenery is interesting and this variability in turn alters, just a little, the flavours produced by the many sub-regions. Glug favours grapes from the mid centre to the far north of the valley though it is wrong to say any sub-region is better than another. What we all want with our drinking is the endless differences and from the Barossa Valley you will also find these in the heritage varieties Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro and of course the wines made from blending the three.
