Who can say what rattles around the head of our winemakers when they sit down to make our wines? Represent the Barossa, its history, and what is means to be a Barossa winemaker and continue this fabulous tradition will be first and foremost. But how do you add to this history?
Making Barbarossa was one idea, work with the two heritage varieties Grenache and Mataro is another. Its testing ideas that lead to Trial Bins.
Glug worked on the idea of Three Hares for many years. The Hares chase each other in a circle and are the varieties Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro. More Hares can be added. I detect a bit of this idea in the Trial Bin 865.
