The Eden Valley is dryer and higher than the Barossa Valley and as the reds from Henschke show produces a wonderful variant of Barossa Shiraz.\n\nVintage 2020 was the last of three years of dry conditions and they did it tough up in the Eden Valley as water is scarce.\n\nOur winemakers have many contacts in the Eden Valley and was able to acquire a few barrels of Shiraz which were transferred to the Glug winery for further preparation and blending some of which appears as this Restless Farm The Deer.\n\nThe Restless wines developed from the 2008 vintage with the help of a McLaren Vale winemaker and are a fruit first style.\n\n A decade back our Winemaker took up sports shooting and while deer are a handsome animal introduced from the Northern Hemisphere, they are now a pest across Southern Australia. Elsewhere as well, as I recently read that in Idaho, US they have taken a liking to grapes.\n\nThus the reference to Deer refers to the many that have taken up residence in the Eden Valley thus adding to the strange array of animals found down on the Restless Farm.
