As long as I can drink a sound wine I really have no preferences. I find plenty of wines that have been overlooked and I ask why? Fashion, opinion, the vibe, I really have no idea why some wines win favour over others.
The smart drinker explores places that have not been discovered or are out of favour. For a few decades of the post war years some countries had superior technical skills than others so the wines simply tasted better. These skills are transferrable and so long as the capital can be found for modern equipment then all the wine regions of the World will grow to be level.
As expressed, many times I believe the constant praise for cool climate white wines is overdone. They taste different to those from a warmer climate, that is all. Which brings me back to this marvellous Knotts Barossa Valley Rose which suits my taste. It is well made, makes me want another glass, and then it lingers. Reward yourself by introducing this mixed varietal blend to your table.
