The Barossa Valley makes a distinctively flavoured Shiraz which is like no other on the planet. Rich, ripe and full bodied with the fruit on the mid palate often being dense enough that it creates an expression of sweetness even though the wine has been fermented dry.
All Barossa wines show an aspect of this though the impression varies from vineyard to vineyard. Thus the grapes that are selected as potentially of Penfolds Grange standard are from vineyards noted for often producing this desirable level.
It is this extra flavour aspect that leads us to produce Karrawirra Singe Vineyards when conditions are right and our winemaking has captured this flavour density.
The last Single Vineyard releases were from vintage 2015. We are not proponents of long cellaring and see no harm in opening a bottle of this wine before Xmas.
