To understand this Barossa Valley Shiraz, you need to know Glug both makes Barossa Valley wines plus we buy wines from other makers. Incidentally we seldom buy wines that are already bottled as they are not good value.
The wines we make appear as Karrawirra, Goat Square, Bengalee, Crayford etc these being brands familiar to customers. The wines we purchase as bulk, often with the barrels, appear as Glug and as old wine merchant brands like P.B. Burgoyne and Auld and Burton, yet when we deem them exceptional we use a label from our early days being BVWS for Barossa Valley Wine Supply.
Being opportunity buys they have no continuity from vintage to vintage. Indeed over the last ten years we have not been offered Barossa reds of quality and price to our satisfaction. Times are changing and while there had been no BVWS since 2009 we recently purchased a small lot of very nice Shiraz and in November released a BVWS 2018 and this 2019 is part of that purchase. At 15.4% alc/vol this wine will appeal to some and be a bit much for others.
