Malbec is special and while quality Malbec has become associated with Argentine it has never gained much favour in Australia. I have no idea why as the Stanley Leasingham Clare Valley Cabernet Malbecs of the 1970s were outstanding.
In Langhorne Creek the Bleasdale winemakers have tried to popularise Malbec for 50 years. Perhaps when we have all given up hope it will be discovered.
Wines like this Bagot Station will surely help as while it bonds with Cabernet to bring Shiraz into the blend as well you must get the proportions just right. Our winemakers have made this work though the quality of the Shiraz does help. Try this blend with a Barossa which contains Mataro as this will bring an appreciation of the art of blending.
Glug would like to offer more wines with Malbec, alas supply is scarce.
