• Bagot Station Barossa Valley Shiraz Cabernet 2023

    $11.40

Drink this vintage sooner not later as the extraordinary aroma is its great joy.

  • Mount Eagle Eden Valley Cabernet Syrah 2022

    $12.60

The best way I can describe this Mount Eagle is to appreciate that the medium density, the result of the location, displays a range of flavours, perhaps fragrant, which tend to be masked in wines from the adjoining Barossa Valley.

  • Landaus Vintners ‘Blockies’ South Australia Shiraz Mataro 2022

    $8.80

Since the first wine in 2007, the finishing touch to Blockies has come from the use of high-quality Mataro. We believe Mataro is the best all-purpose variety to use when adjusting the wine flavours of warm climate reds. Incidentally Mataro has no role of course in making cool climate reds. Thus, the back palate lift comes from the addition of about 15%, high quality Barossa Valley Mataro. The result is as good as the first we made in 2007.

  • Farmers Museum Selection Fine Old Barossa Valley Tawny 750mL

    $55.00

Great vintages happen when everything goes just right such as a long even ripening without stress on the vine and thus the bunches of grapes. The excitement grows that 2021 will be one of the classics and I have my finger crossed that it may equal the 1996.

  • Farmers & Growers ‘The Ploughman’ South Australia Shiraz Mataro 2022

    $8.20

All drinkers have a need for that small batch, inexpensive wine for occasions when the cellar of premiums should not be raided. Plenty of times we like to have a glass in hand when doing busy jobs and simply do not have a moment to reflect on the wine. This is the time to open a Quaffing Dry Red (QDR).

  • Old Moppa Road Barossa Valley Cabernet Merlot 2019

    $13.50

Cabernet makes firm wines and the tannic toughness can get out of control so blending with the soft, fleshiness of Merlot comes naturally.

  • Stonevale Wines Red Barn Barossa Valley Cabernet Malbec 2020

    $11.60

For this Stonevale the Malbec has transformed the Cabernet into something special. Malbec has a tasty, sappy-fruity, menthol character so how much to add must be carefully measured. Malbec is very popular in Argentine and the best of them from Mendoza, the wine capital, fetch high prices. It is time for a Malbec revival.

Glug Barossa Valley Mataro Shiraz NV

  • Glug South Australia Cabernet Shiraz 2018

    $7.50

These are small volumes from 20 to 30 cases created for customer interest.

  • Restless Farm Mixed Dozen

    $150.00

Younger and fresher with lower extract is the Restless Farm style though note all our Barossa reds are over 14% abv. If large tasting glasses have one purpose it is to show Shiraz at its best, as a big splash in those outsized glasses reveals an clinging swirl of oily, deep purple colour that has an origin in only one place.

Drink now and over the next few years and you will be richly rewarded.

  • Stonevale Wines ‘Red Barn’ Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

    $11.60

We find beauty in all the differences each vineyard and wine maker creates and prefer to offer customers dozens of expressions. Each small difference we reason keeps your drinking interesting.

  • Glug ‘The Escapee’ Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

    $14.60

In a district like the Barossa Valley the long summer never ends and grapes can be left hanging well into April or May and you can watch the berries shrivel in the heat. Vintage 2021 was favourable for the development of flavours and is as close to 10/10 as is possible. The grapes for this Glug Cabernet were harvested for full ripeness in the Glug style. We prefer drinking wines when younger though this wine will hand around in a good cellar for a long time.

  • The Regions Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

    $13.80

The reason there are so many Glug brands is because we prefer to bottle each wine to preserve the difference, however tiny. Overriding all of the small differences is the flavour of the Barossa Valley and the Glug style which favours full flavours. Expect from us a red over 14% alcohol as we are not excited by the flavours of low alcohol reds.

  • Terrene Estates Barossa Valley Shiraz Mataro Grenache N.V.

    $10.60

Just delicious and why weren’t wines of this type a regular part of our drinking decades ago. Why were they not made? The three varieties that thrive together in the Australian warm climate districts are Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro and they have been around since the start.

  • Fareham Estate Clare Valley Shiraz 2022

    $15.40

There is something about the geography of the Clare Valley and how this reacts with the climate that finds its way into the Shiraz and Cabernet. They bring to the glass an additional and unusual fragrance, a minty delicacy, which is quite thrilling.
