We stumbled upon a startlingly good Rosé late in 2021which was offered by a much larger winery than we normally deal with. A rough rule of thumb has taught Glug that while larger wineries make sound, wholesome wine, they lack the difference, the energy, that we see in the wines of small to tiny producers. All the differences we crave are blended to make a uniform taste and you can buy styles like that at the local liquor chain.
Still as I preach it is what is in the glass that counts and the 2022 vintage is a fabulous buy. This vintage is labelled as Terrene a medieval English term which is a bit like the French term terroir. As for the wine, well it tastes good and is a result of blending several regions so we decided to call it South Australia.
I view this rose as better than a BBQ wine, a notch up from the reds I call QDR’s and will become your late afternoon choice. The price remains the same.
