The first Knotts was an Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc from 2010. Knotts is the term we applied to navigating the roads and tracks of the Adelaide Hills which swing back and forth due to the facings of the hill scarps rapidly changing direction. This means vineyards face all points of the compass and neighbours may have very different outlooks.
Since the facing of vine rows captures the weather this is excellent for multiple variations on the general district flavour. Glug likes this diversity. This topography extends into the western and southern part of the Eden Valley.
We do not make our Eden Valley range and the origin of this wine is from a small grower-maker, one of a great number that regularly offer us samples, being excess to their needs. We get first dibs because we pay more as the wines represent what we wish to offer customers.
A large winery will buy the wine to be part of a much larger blend so they will not pay a premium for the differences we preserve for Glug customers.
