Telegraph Road wines have appeared every year since vintage 2009. They are part of our range best described as QDR’s. The wine legends Max Lake and Len Evans at their respective wineries Lakes Folly and Rothbury made high end, special wines yet noticed that customers also wanted something decent to drink for day-to-day use and these they termed QDR’s for quaffing dry reds.
Glug likes the wine philosophy of both and enjoys making kitchen style reds and whites, a glass to drink while cooking, in this tradition. Our idea for this Telegraph Road was two good base wines which in-turn are blends and both with adequate barrel age. Wines like this are not world beaters but useful drinks and please note they have been bottled late 2023 from barrel stock.
Cheaper wines with bottle age that were bottled say a year after vintage are no good as the tiny container of 750ml speeds up aging and all the attractive qualities of freshness are lost.
