Marrying Clare with the Barossa is a natural idea to explore the taste possibilities of the Adelaidean Mount Lofty Range. Both are warm climate premium regions at different elevations, with both noted for interesting Cabernets with one oddity being the seeming coolness of those from the Clare.
Wolf Blass is the only company that has made an art form out of blending districts along the Adelaidean Mount Lofty Range, many-Platinum label, Black label Brown label etc- with spectacular results. Thus I strongly endorse the approach of our winemakers to reimagine this old idea which fell from favour.
Those that recall the Stanley Leasingham Bin number reds from Clare in the 1960s and 1970s know that something was wrong when they were discontinued and or downgraded in quality. This blend is a lively reminder of what is possible.
