Wines take on a life of their own and this shows when you taste 40 barrels of wine that were identical when they began barrel maturation, after being filled from the same fermenter. A skilled wine maker and a better than average taster will quickly see differences.
With the 2016 vintage we began to bottle those with characters we believed should be preserved for the interest of customers. Thus was born the WIBS series, short for winemakers individual barrel selection.
Tiny bottlings are possible because we now bottle all wines at the winery. We also have the advantage of selling directly to customers since tiny bottlings are a nuisance for larger conventional wineries supplying the shop retail trade.
These WIBS wines will appeal to customers who like to dig a bit deeper into the enjoyment of wine. For us it places on your table part of our daily winery work which only customers visiting the winery will discover.
