The large surplus of premium wines from boutique wineries is now trickling into the market. It’s all hush hush as no one wants to own up to making more than they can sell. The best are offered like loot, sold off the back of a truck, origin unknown. Count Glug in as all we want is good wine to offer customers. That is all I can say about the source of the Glug Bethany Road-a ‘one off’, bottled and labelled by us. Drinking decent Barossa reds at a reasonable price is surely the goal of the common-sense drinker. Yet most buyers are too nervous to purchase unknown brands and find it safer to pay up.
Ten years ago, this was ‘just’ acceptable strategy but since then prices have bolted. These days wine has moved in price from sundries to major household items. Let Glug do the sifting, while you take the savings. Barossa Cabernet is different to those from cooler districts being warmer and riper on the palate and this ‘one off’ is very much in the Glug style.
