Where would our drinking be without Barossa Valley Shiraz. This incredible wine should be the keystone on the common-sense drinkers regular drinking. Of course, this is recognised around Australia, yet the allure is not as strong as it was with new districts offering different flavours and hometown appeal. For example, WA is all about its own wines particularly Margaret River. Globally the term Barossa Valley is the most recognised term, yet this does not translate into strong sales.
As noted in Glug emails the recent heady days of ever expanding the Australian wine business has hit a mighty brick wall. This burst of enthusiasm doubled the size of Barossa plantings over the last 15 years. Barossa fruit was the proverbial sure thing. Now Glug, like others wonder who will buy it all.
This Bagot is part of a recent purchase, and we were attracted by the incredible aroma, unlike any we had experienced. Purchase is recommended though we prefer early drinking to capture the beauty of the young fruit. This is a luxury we would previously not have advised but these days supplies have swung the way of the consumer. There will be more.
