Philip Schaffer ‘The Vineyard’ Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir NV
$10.99Glug does not make sparkling wine but we find the best we can and these are presented under the Philip Schaffer brand.
-
Parawatta Eden Valley Pinot Gris 2022
$11.80There is no other Australian district with just these geographic features and they create quite special flavours.
-
Fareham Estate Clare Valley Riesling 2022
$14.50The Clare makes excellent reds which are full bodied, and it is hard to comprehend how this same region can also produce Rieslings of such sublime delicacy.
-
Terrene Estates South Australia Rosé 2022
$10.90As I preach it is what is in the glass that counts and the 2022 vintage is a fabulous buy. This vintage is labelled as Terrene a medieval English term which is a bit like the French term terroir. As for the wine, well it tastes good and is a result of blending several regions so we decided to call it South Australia.
-
Parawatta Eden Valley Riesling 2022
$14.80If Riesling has its type location in Germany and Austria we next have to ask why Riesling can make such a superlative wine in faraway Australia. Let us just enjoy that these wonderful tastes exist and thank the versatility of Riesling.
-
Knotts Mount Lofty Ranges Vermentino 2024
$13.60I write this note, glass by my desk. Scented with a difference, shows fragrance, good length, made for Australia-a picnic white, for the anything but Chardonnay crowd. Perhaps serve on your boat on Sydney harbour, during summer of course.
Sourced from a nameless, smart boutique in the Adelaide Hills. For those without a boat, the rest of us, Vermentino like Gruner Veltliner will be one of the very large number of varieties that clamour for attention which you try a few times each year.
-
Borderland Estates ‘Flocking Galloots’ South Australia Sauvignon Blanc 2024
$9.60Glug simply loves Sauvignon Blanc. We were there in the mid late 1970s promoting the variety when the elite shunned it – indeed they were scathing of its potential.
-
Waitohi Springs Marlborough New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc 2023
$12.80Who was to know that plantings of Sauvignon Blanc along the river terraces of the Wairau River, draining the northern end of the South Island of New Zealand, in 1973 were to produce a taste sensation.
-
Terrene Estates South Australia Chardonnay 2024
$9.60Vines arrived with the First Fleet, collected from European vineyards, while cuttings also came from Madeira and Cape Town, both with a long wine making history. More varieties arrived with the Busby collection of the 1830s. We know Chardonnay existed for a long time in Mudgee yet what was the origin? New clonal selections arrived though it was not till the mid to late 1980s that sufficient Chardonnay was being made to meet demand. Now all vineyard districts grown Chardonnay though it is no longer favoured in warm regions like the Barossa Valley. This Terrene Estates is a Glug blend from several sources.

Hopcroft & Cornock McLaren Vale Rosé 2024
$13.80This is the first McLaren Vale Rosé we have stocked, a wine style that Glug enjoys when made from warm climate regions. Rosés made from the varieties Grenache and Mataro which fruit well in warm climates are our favourites.
