At last Barossa Valley Cabernet has a growing acceptance. For far too long the variety Cabernet Sauvignon, the origin being Bordeaux, France, has been seen as displaying its best in coolish maritime climates like Margaret River or further inland but coolish like the Yarra Valley. All varieties can express themselves over a wide climate range and it is best left to consumers to decide which taste is better.
Barossa Valley Cabernet has been around since the 1940s and Orlando versions of the 1950s and 1960s were brilliant wines. The focus and opinions of judges then moved to cooler regions so for decades few companies offered 100% varietal Cabernets as the demand had gone. Yet the Barossa taste was not to be denied and since 2010 sales have strengthened. Finally, what the consumers wants wins out.
This Stockwell Creek is a slice of our best Cabernet batches from a vintage that Glug ranks as 10/10. Barossa Cabernets can age well and if you have a cool spot, it will be worth placing a case aside.
