Growers and winemakers have two levers they can use to deliver customers a range of diverse tastes. Plant the vines in all the different climate regions and use many different varieties. Of the former it is infinite and of the latter it is said there are 10,000 varieties. Vines like humans normally cross breed and if not cloned from cuttings will also give infinite variation. So best to let plant breeders decide what are the tastiest varieties.
Tempranillo is one of the noble varieties of Spain and climatically is a useful addition to the palates of consumers. The Eden Valley can be seen as more European in climate than the Barossa Valley so the wines are more medium weight.
Glug does not take in fruit from the Eden Valley and have been waiting patiently for years for the right grower-maker to offer us tiny barrel amounts. No names of course though we are thrilled to offer this brilliant Tempranillo.
