The point of Barossa Shiraz is its unique depth and ripeness. Pale, delicate and light has its place as does the opposite; the intense depth of ‘sweetness’ along the mid palate which is a feature unique to the Barossa Valley. I hasten to add the wine is dry it’s just that the taste appears as described. I do not see the point in trying to dumb down the exuberance of Barossa reds as when the occasion suggests a different style simply move to a cooler wine region, like Margaret River or the Yarra Valley. The two best vintages from the Barossa we have in stock are those of 2021 and 2022. There are about ten cases left and as a grade sign it sits equal to all the other 2021s we have sold. We have now watched the 2021 and 2022 vintage reds evolve over a number of years and they have a good life ahead.
