The Stockwell Collection is built around those varieties which make the Barossa Valley the most important Global warm climate wine district. The four varieties Shiraz, Cabernet, Grenache and Mataro have now proven themselves to make complex wines with a richness and depth of flavour that has no equal and is related to the unique geographical position of the Barossa Valley. Newer plantings of varieties as diverse as Durif, Merlot and Primitivo show promise and will add to the diversity though the four heritage varieties will remain the most important varieties for the next hundred years, perhaps forever. Glug builds its brands around important Barossa valley features and the Stockwell Collection focusses on the town of Stockwell which dates to the early 1850s. Stockwell Creek runs through the town of Stockwell and a flour mill was built on its banks in 1854. Stockwell is in the far NE corner of the Barossa valley, and being isolated is well off the regular tourist beat. All four wines are of Gold medal standard. The Shiraz and Cabernet are from the profound 2021 vintage. We favour younger wines to display the complexity of Grenache and have chosen the 2023 vintage.
The collection contains four bottles each of Shiraz and Cabernet and two bottles each of Grenache and Grenache Shiraz Mataro.
